Technology is now playing a greater role in young peoples’ lives than
ever before and the opportunities this provides for new teachers to
enliven their lessons and engage with students are incredible. Yet it
also poses a challenge that trainee teachers need to be ready for.As we have our EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY subject,we had learned a lot from our instructor, Ms. Ria Joy Rebuyon. We experienced listening to the audio by the use of the cellphone with speakers where we made our own ending of the story that Ms. Rebuyon given us. There in our class discussions we talked a lot about the significance of using technology in teaching. As a future teachers, our Ms. Rebuyon taught us well to make those amazing techniques to have an excellent output especially in conducting our demonstrations. I remember the day that we made different puppets and we had a role playing after that, we took pictures and those are examples of using technology.
Educational technology, also termed
instructional technology,
information and communication technology (ICT) in education,
EdTech, and
learning technology,
is "the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and
improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate
technological processes and resources."
[1] A closely related term,
e-learning,
refers to the use of modern technology, such as computers, digital
technology, networked digital devices and associated software and
courseware with learning scenarios, worksheets and interactive exercises
that facilitate learning.
Educational technology is used by learners and educators in homes,
schools (both K-12 and higher education), businesses, and other
settings. The term educational technology encompasses both material
objects, such as machines and networking hardware, as well as theories
such as
instructional theory and
learning theory. Educational technology is an integral part of society today.
[2] Information and communications technology
in education refers both to an array of tools and also to the
principles for their effective application in learning. Educational
technology relies on a broad defini methodologies and techniques, and
skills assessments. Examples of these two dimensions are material
aspects such as internet-based learning, and
educational psychology aspects such as
instructional theory,
learning theory,
media psychology and
human performance technology, fields of study that apply theories of human behavior to educational technology.
This are examples of the puppets that we made in our ED-TECH.
Now, let us know the use of projector in conducting classes to our class.
PROJECTOR IN THE CLASSROOM
Many teachers find chalkboards to be almost a thing of the past with
the advent of projectors in the classroom. Rather than writing notes
across a board, teachers can make use of PowerPoint presentations,
images and even film as teaching tools through the use of projectors.
Consequently, teachers and students alike find projectors to be useful
classroom devices.
Some Advantages of using Projector in classroom:
Easier Note Taking
-
Projectors enable teachers to create bulleted PowerPoint
presentations or other highly organized notes for the class. With the
use of projectors in the classroom, students can take better notes with
the ability to discern what information the teacher displays is most
useful to them. Additionally, students can ask the teacher to repeat a
slide if they missed information, or even ask that the teacher to email
the presentation for further review.
Greater Teaching Versatility
-
Projectors release teachers from being bound to chalk and dry-erase
boards to present information to their students. With the use of
projectors, teachers can now use films, slides, and images to teach
students about a variety of subjects. Teachers will also find that the
Internet is more useful since projectors can display web content to an
entire class, rather than each student accessing information on
individual computers, if they are available.
Better Use of Class Time
-
Prior to the use of projectors in the classroom, teachers had to
spend time writing notes on the board, as well as erasing information as
the board filled up. Projectors require a simple click of a button or
mouse, thus, freeing valuable class time. By using projectors, teachers
can more easily prepare all notes prior to class for easy presentation.
Teachers may also find that they spend less time repeating or rewriting
information that is now accessible with a simple click.
Better Student Presentations
-
Students will appreciate the use of projectors as they prepare class
projects that they can now create in PowerPoint or other electronic
mediums. Consequently, students will find that presentation creation
will go faster with each person using their own computer to create their
section of the presentation. Presentations on a projector,
additionally, reduce the need to make copies of materials to pass out to
classmates during presentations that can now be displayed for the
entire class to view at once.
IMPORTANT ROLES OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
in
Education
In the current age we live in, technology has
become an important
component. Every day there is some new gadget or software that makes
lives easier and improves on the technology and software that already
exists. Making lives easier is not, however, the only role technology
plays in our lives.Technology is playing an increasing role in
education. As technology advances, it is used to benefit students of all
ages in the learning process.
Technology used in the classroom
helps students adsorb the material. For example, since some people are
visual learners, projection screens linked to computers can allow
students to see their notes instead of simply listening to a teacher
deliver a lecture.
Software can be used to supplement class
curriculum. The programs provide study questions, activities, and even
tests and quizzes for a class that can help students continue learning
outside the classroom.
Technology has also become part of many
curriculums, even outside of computer and technology classes. Students
use computers to create presentations and use the Internet to research
topics for papers and essays.
Students also learn to use the
technology available to them in computer and tech classes. This ensures
that after graduation they will be able to use the technology in a work
setting, which may put them ahead of someone who didn't have access to a
particular technology or software in their own school setting.
As
technology advances, students have better access to educational
opportunities like these. When something new and "better" is revealed,
the "older" technology becomes more affordable, allowing it to be used
in educational settings, even when schools are on a tight budget.
Technology
has also advanced to help children even before they've started school.
Educational video games and systems for young children helps them
prepare for school and in some cases get a head start on their
education.
Do you know the Differences of the Following
Words .?
a.Educational Technology
b.Instructional Technology
c.Technology in Education
d.Instructional Media
e.Educational Media
If not i will give you some information and idea
regarding to it .
Educational Technology is the
study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and
improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate
technological processes and resources. So it is not just the integration
of technology in education it also needs sufficient time and efforts
to have a clear understanding about this topic.
Instructional Technology
is "the theory and practice of design,
development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and
resources for learning. It is often referred as a part of Educational
technology. But nowadays Instructional Technology gained its own
meaning to clearly understand the difference of it in Educational
Technology.
Technology in Education is the integration of different
technologies that helps individual to strengthen their understanding in
specific subject.
Instructional media encompasses all the materials
and physical means an instructor might use to implement instruction
and
facilitate students' achievement of instructional objectives. This
may include
traditional materials such as chalkboards, handouts, charts, slides,
overheads,
real objects, and videotape or film, as well newer materials and
methods such
as computers, DVDs, CD-ROMs, the Internet, and interactive video
conferencing.
Educational Media seems
to be the tools to be used by the teachers in achieving their daily
goal in Learning Environment. It doesn't focus only on the technology
but also on the abilities in manipulating technologies whether in
physical and intellectul.
So that is the meaning of that following words and their
difference.
What is the Primary Concern of Educational Technology II course
forme.?
For me the Primary concern of Educational
Technology II course is that, for me to understand how important the
integration of technology in education. As a future Educator i must know
the different tools to be use in order to strengthen the understanding
and acquiring of information of my future student. It is not only
focus on the new technology, but also the traditional instructional tools
used in teaching,
Educational Technology is very Important
nowadays . As the years fast the competencies of the students also
increase with this subject, future educators gained relevant information
in what is the newest technology that they can use.
Edgar Dales "The Cone of Experience"
The
core of experience developed by Edgar Dale asserts that the pattern of
arrangement of the bands of experience is not difficulty but degree of
abstraction - the amount of immediate sensory participation that is
involved.
1. Direct purposeful experience -
these are firsthand experience which serve as the foundation of our
learning.
We build our reservoir of meaningful information and ideas through
seeing,
hearing, touching, tasting and smelling. In the context of
teaching-learning
process, it is learning by doing.
Example:
In Elementary students , teachers first teach the basic 4 Macro skills
in their students, writing, reading and speaking becomes their
foundation of learning in moving tothe next steps.
2. Contrived experience - make
use
of representative models or mock-ups of reality for practical reasons
and so
that we can make the real-life accessible to the students' participation
and
understanding.
Example:
In Science the use of realia or model in teaching parts of the body
helps the student easy understand and know the different parts of the
body .
3. Dramatized experience - a student can
participate in reconstructed experiences even though the original event
is far
removed
Example:
Allowing the students participate in activities like Role Playing, Drama
or other physical Activities
4. Demonstrations - is a visualized
explanation of important fact, idea or process by use of photographs,
drawings,
films, displays or guided motions.
Example:
Film Showing .
5. Study trips - these are
excursions and
visits conducted to observe an event that is available within the
classroom.
Example:
Taking the students indifferent educational place like museum,
planetarium, zoo and Historical places.
6. Exhibits - these are displays to
be seen by spectators. They may consist of working models arranged
meaningfully or photographs with models, charts and posters.
Example:
Art Gallery allow your students to unleashed their creativity in their
own by creating arts like panting and others artistic things.
7. Television and motion pictures -
these can reconstruct the reality of the past so effectively that we are
made to
feel we are there.
Example:
Making the students watch a film then instructing them to make a
reaction or
reflection about the story.
8. Still pictures, recordings, radio
- these are visual and auditory
devices maybe used by an individual or group.
Example:
Allow students to listen in radio and ask them to prepare reaction
paper.
9. Visual symbols - these are no
longer realistic reproduction of physical things for these are highly
abstract
representations.
Example:
Charts which represent an image of the different kinds of
transportation,
occupation, parts of the body and etc.
Graphs that show representation of progress, quantity, etc.
10. Verbal symbols - they are not
the objects or ideas to which they stand. They usually do not contain
visual
clues to their meaning. Written words fall under this category. It may
be a
word for a concrete object (book), and idea (freedom of speech), a
scientific
principle (the principle of balance), or a formula (e=mc2).
Examples
The use of books
and other Instructional Material.
My Reflection
As of now I
already learned the Importance of well prepared Instructional Material
in motivating the students. I also learned that it is not easy to
prepare relevant materials. Different types of Instructional materials
have their own different purpose. I also learned the PPPF which is very
important. P- PREPARE YOUR SELF. P-PREPARE YOUR STUDENTS. P- PRESENT
YOUR MATERIALS and F- FOLLOW-UP . This following information help me to
be more curious not only on how will i present my self but also on how
can i make my learning more on acquiring not on memorizing.
"The Cone of
Experience" this is a very good information that i also learned now i
can easily understand on how will i deal with my future student if i
become a teacher.
